Renee Stout Born in Junction City, Kansas, 1958, Stout holds a Bachelor in Fine Arts from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 1980. Her awards include two Pollock Krasner Foundation Awards, The Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, Regional Visual Arts Fellowship and a Tryon Center for Visual Arts Residency. She has participated in over 50 exhibitions throughout the United States, including several exhibitions with Smithsonian Institution and the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., the High Museum, Atlanta, Georgia, The Neuberger Museum of Art, Purchase, New York, and The De Beyerd Museum, The Netherlands.


Her solo exhibitions "Astonishment and Power: Kongo Minkisi and the Art of Renee Stout, the National Museum of African Art, Washington, D.C., and "Dear Robert, I'll See You at the Crossroads: A Project for Renee Stout, Santa Barbara, California. Her work is in several collections, including the National Museum of American Art, Washington, D.C., the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond, Virginia, the Dallas Museum of Art, Texas, and the Baltimore Museum of Art, Maryland. She lives and works in Washington, D.C.
